A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yvon Trottier in the Department of Translational Medecine and Neurogenetics at the Insitute of Genetic and Molecular and Cellular Bioloy (IGBMC).
Our laboratory uses zebrafish and mouse models to study the physiopathology of neurodegenerative polyglutamine expansion diseases. Among these diseases, SpinoCerebellar Ataxia 7 (SCA7) causes progressive degeneration of cerebellar neurons and retinal photoreceptors, leading to ataxia and blindness. The project aims at deciphering a novel function of the SCA7 protein and at understanding related dysfunctions in the pathogenesis of SCA7. The project will be developed in an international research environment using in-house state-of-the-art facilities.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with experience in molecular and cellular biology. Applicants must have a PhD degree. Experience with mouse and zebrafish studies, and knowledge on neurodegenerative processes, biology of cilia or retina function would be an asset but is not required.
Please send your application (including a motivation cover letter, a CV, a description of research experience and contact information for 2-3 references) by email to Yvon.Trottier@igbmc.fr. More information are available on the website (http://www.igbmc.fr/igbmc/recrutement/job_offer/113/). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
