As part of the SFI funded investigator programme “Towards the druggable interactome: bioinformatic analysis of protein interactions and oligopeptide modulation of signalling networks.” 2009-2014, we are surveying protein motifs, designing oligopeptides that can modulate protein interactions, and validating experimentally. Different protein secondary structures induce different levels of torsion in proteins. This project will develop tools to investigate the impact of changes in torsion induced by changes in secondary structure states, and their role in determining the functional importance of mutations and motifs (Level 2 postdoctoral position, 1 year post). There are opportunities for experimentally investigating the roles of peptides targeting cancer.
