瑞典卡罗林斯卡学院分子神经免疫学博士后招收

时间:2013-09-24来源:博士人才网 作者:91boshi

The Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and education in the field of neuroscience from the molecular level to the society level. The clinical research and education is conducted in collaboration with other research groups from the Karolinska Institutet, with other universities as well as the Stockholm County Council.

Division
Disorders of the brain are among the biggest challenges facing public and personal health today. Parkinson´s disease and major depression are among the most frequent disorders of the brain. Today, there are drugs that can counteract some symptoms, but the side effects of these drugs are common, and
many patients do not respond to treatment, thus there is a great need for new drugs with fewer side effects and greater efficiency. Especially needed are disease modifying drugs. To develop such drugs, it is critical to better understand disease mechanisms and to develop biomarkers that predict treatment response. The Division of Translational Neuropharmacology is using molecular and biochemical analyzes of patient samples, primarily from blood and cerebrospinal fluid, in their research. It also has
access to a range of animal models for the study of Parkinson’s disease and major depression. With the breadth of methods in our laboratory result from the research can relatively quickly be brought to a clinical situation, such as diagnostics.

Duties
An interesting area for the development of biomarkers as well as potential drugs for the treatment of depression and Parkinson’s disease relates to immunological mechanisms. The applicant will develop FACS , Luminex, and ELISA – based techniques for the analysis of low-grade immunological processes in collaboration with researchers with extensive experience in the methods. The project aims to identify new molecular mechanisms that play a role in the disease process and can be used as biomarkers and/or developed into new treatments. The candidate is expected to be very active and skilled in the laboratory
and have strong competence to analyze, summarize and present results both orally and in writing. The candidate will be encouraged to mentor master students leading to experience for future leadership.

Entry requirements
The applicant should have a degree in biomedical science (medicine, biology, biomedical and / or human biology) and a Ph.D. in immunology, preferably neuroimmunology. The candidate should have a strong background in laboratory experimental studies of immunological mechanisms in human specimens and possibly in animal models and experience in molecular and cellular methods. Autonomy and strong motivation are expected throughout the project. Excellent knowledge of English is necessary.

Scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies may be awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining all or part of their education. The Head of the Department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher. Having received a salary or other remuneration from Karolinska Institutet during the past two years may be disqualifying.

One requirement for receiving a scholarship for postdoctoral studies is central registration as a postdoc.
