This postdoc position is in the Department of Medicine – Division on Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and is for the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions
The research will center on molecular biology and physiology of diabetes and atherosclerosis. The selected candidate will have a unique opportunity to combine phenotypic and molecular characterization of multiple genetically modify models of insulin resistance and atherosclerosis to investigate mechanism of common human diseases. Dr Bernal will mentor the candidate. The candidate will be responsible for designing and completing research experiments, analyzing data, and preparation of manuscripts and grants. She/he will have the opportunity to present research results at national and international conferences. He/she will be expected to maintain conformity with ethical standards in research.

Required Qualifications
*PhD in related fields (molecular biology, physiology or immunology).
*Experience in generation of DNA constructs, reported assays, mouse cell primary of endothelial or smooth muscle culture, qPCR, and Western blotting.
*Experience with handling and maintaining rodent models.
*Have good spoken and written communication skills.

Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is commensurate with experience.
