We are looking for a candidate with a background in Epidemiology/Biostatistics to apply for a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship. The position will be at the Unit of Epidemiology & Medical Statistics, Dept Public Health and Community Medicine, University of Verona, Italy. Candidates should hold a Ph.D in Epidemiology and Biostatics, Public Health Medicine or Pharmacoepidemiolgy. The candidate should have a good publication record in quality peer-reviewed journals, demonstrated creative thinking, be able to work independently and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Description
The Unit of Epidemiology & Medical Statistics is interested in studying the associations between the dietary intake, physical activity and oxidative damage in subjects with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), asthma and rhinitis and their relationships with aging. These analyses will be conducted in the frame of an Italian multi-center survey coordinated by our Unit in collaboration with respiratory medicine experts (www.geird.org). The candidate should have the following qualifications and skills: • A PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatics, Public Health Medicine or Pharmacoepidemiolgy • Fluent in English. • Able to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team and have an interest in liaising and working in collaboration with many different partners. • Specific experience and/or interest in respiratory/nutritional epidemiology is an asset. • Good Stata programming knowledge (and/or other statistical software) will be a plus. The selected candidate will be supported in the writing and development of her/his project proposal by the staff of the Unit of Epidemiology & Medical Statistics. Final hiring of the candidate is conditioned to the success of the Marie Curie application. The candidate should submit us her/his request within 28th February 2014.
