Salary: Grade 8: £38,511 - £45,954 p.a. (pay award pending)
The Nuffield Department of Medicine are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Cell Biologist to join the new Alzheimer’s Research UK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI). The ODDI is dedicated to the discovery of new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of dementias and is engaged in early drug and biomarker discovery for diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and frontotemporal dementia.
You will have an affinity for laboratory based experimental work, expertise in CNS cell biology and assay development using high content imaging platforms, together with a record of success in an academic or pharmaceutical research setting. The post is full-time, fixed-term until August 2020.
Appointment on Grade 7 (£30,434 - £37,394 p.a.) with an appropriate adjustment in the duties, as indicated in the job description, will be considered, based on skills and experience.
You will have a PhD, with excellent practical laboratory training and skills. Expertise in CNS primary cultures, quantitation of imaging data and excellent communication skills are also essential.
You will report to the Head of Biology but will also work closely with the Head of the UK-NPSC, based in the Target Discovery Institute (TDI), and its staff.
