Summary Description: |
The laboratory of Meenakshi Rao, M.D., Ph.D. seeks a postdoctoral fellow with experience in cellular and molecular neurobiology to investigate neuron-glia interactions in the enteric nervous system (ENS). The gastrointestinal tract is the only organ in the mammalian body with its own intrinsic nervous system; the ENS is large, complex and uniquely capable of operating independently of the central nervous system. Our laboratory uses mouse genetic models to investigate how glia in the ENS interact with neurons, enteroendocrine cells, and a variety of other cell types in the intestinal microenvironment to regulate gastrointestinal homeostasis, appetite, and behavior. This is an excellent opportunity to gain expertise in an innovative area at the interface of neuroscience and digestive biology. |
