Center for Immunobiology Postdoctoral Position : Kalamazoo, MI, United States

The Center for Immunobiology of Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) invites applications for research scientist (postdoctoral) positions in immunology with interests in the development and function of B cells. Candidates with broad based research expertise in cellular and molecular immunology, stem cell and developmental biology, and/or, flow cytometry and cell sorting, especially of human B and/or B-1 cells, are of particular interest.

Primary responsibilities include direct involvement and participation in discovery-based research. Applicants should have an existing track record of research productivity and should be capable of independent research. Successful individuals will have the opportunity to submit research proposals. The position may involve supervisory responsibilities involving research support staff.

A postdoctoral position is available as of July 1, 2016 in the T.L. Rothstein laboratory to study human B cell phenotype, repertoire and function, especially natural antibody production, as these relate to health, disease, and aging. The laboratory is located within the Center for Immunobiology. Applicants should be facile with molecular techniques and have completed a PhD in immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology.

In 2016, an additional $10 million expansion created two floors supporting clinical and laboratory research, and the Innovation Center on the Parkview Campus became part of the medical school. There are more than 200 residents and fellows in eight residencies and two fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). WMed is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for continuing medical education. The medical examiner's office, staffed by medical school faculty from the department of Pathology, is accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME).
