Postdoc Positions in Electrophysiology / Neuroscience : Baltimore, MD, United States
Postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the lab of Dr. Andrea Meredith, at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, to study circadian regulation of ion channels and neural circuits. We are seeking highly motivated electrophysiologists to contribute to our studies of the circadian regulation of intrinsic excitability (see Nature Neuroscience 9:1041, 2006; PNAS 109:18997-9002, 2012; and Nature Communications 7:10837, 2016). This NIH-funded project involves recording macroscopic ionic currents and from neurons and heterologous cells, and action potentials from the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the brain’s internal ‘clock’. We are specifically interested in understanding the biophysical mechanisms that contribute to circadian regulation of membrane excitability by the large conductance calcium-activated BK channel (KCa1.1).
