Salary: Grade 7: £30,738 - £37,768 p.a.

 

An exciting opportunity to bring neuroimaging expertise to two research projects based in schools. Fit to Study is a project jointly funded by the Education Endowment Foundation and the Wellcome Trust, as part of a Neuroscience and Education initiative.

 

 

The Fit to Study project is assessing the effects of physical activity on academic performance. The project will involve a large-scale randomised controlled trial of an activity intervention in state-funded secondary schools. The second project, funded by Action Medical Research, aims to test the effect of physical activity in children with developmental coordination disorder. You would be focused on designing, carrying out and analysing brain imaging assessments for these two projects.

 

 

Your duties will include designing experiments using a range of techniques including neuroimaging, brain stimulation, and cognitive assessments, performing data analysis and statistics for multiple studies (behavioural, physiological, and imaging), carrying out neuroimaging, brain stimulation studies in children, and training in relevant areas of brain stimulation, rehabilitation, brain image analysis and acquisition, if required

 

 

You will hold a good PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. neuroscience/psychology/sports science), have knowledge and experience of a range of MRI and cognitive assessment techniques, skills in statistics, image analysis and data processing and be able to manage the day-to-day running of a research project including scheduling training and assessments sessions. Experience working with adolescents or in an educational setting would be advantageous.

 

 

The post is full-time for a fixed-term of 2 years in the first instance.
