Postdoctoral Researcher - Computer Simulations of Cell Membranes: Muenster, Germany
A two-year postdoctoral position (TV-L 13) is open in the group of Prof. Andreas Heuer in the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Muenster (Germany), starting as soon as possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Our group has a strong background in studying the microscopic properties of complex systems such as membrane/protein-systems, electrolytes, and disordered systems via computer simulations. In this project the following scientific questions about plasma membranes will be addressed via Molecular Dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations. (1) Lateral structure formation for complex lipid mixtures. (2) Impact of transmembrane proteins on the lipid properties and the resulting structure formation. (3) Mapping of the membrane on a 2D lattice model.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with a PhD in physics, chemistry, or a related subject. The candidate should have an excellent background in atomistic and/or coarse grained simulations of complex systems and have experience with the modelling of biologically relevant systems.
We offer excellent research conditions and a very stimulating working atmosphere.
This work will be conducted in direct collaboration with experimental groups within the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1348 ("Dynamic Cellular Interfaces: Formation and Function"), funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG).
ABOUT THE EMPLOYER
The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women academics. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities. We also welcome applications from candidates with severe disabilities. Disabled candidates with equivalent qualifications will be preferentially considered.
