  Job Description

The Division of Surgical Oncology (Department of Surgery) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position for a funded project to study the signaling pathways that regulate various cellular events in cancer progression. The main focus of research will be to elucidate in-depth the mechanism of cancer cell resistance to apoptosis, identify potential targets and design strategies to ameliorate resistance. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the art equipments and employs the latest molecular, biochemical and cell biological approaches in cell culture and animal models of cancer. The Institution offers a highly interactive cancer research environment and access to top-of the line animal care and other core facilities.

Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. degree with relevant publications in the field of biochemistry, molecular or cellular biology. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation, PCR, qPCR, gene arrays, cell culture, transfection, gene cloning, IHC and in various in vivo xenograft and metastasis cancer models. Experience with hepatocellular carcinoma research will be an added plus. Ability to work in a competitive environment, strong communication skills in English, demonstrated creativity & independence, and high motivation are strongly anticipated.
