  The University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) is a leading global life sciences research institute committed to improving quality of life through research.   The role: Two positions are available. The successful appointee(s) will join an exciting project characterising the ‘inflammasome’ pathway that mediates immune system activation during infection, injury and inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. The successful appointee(s) will have the opportunity to develop their research career(s) in a laboratory with a strong emphasis on training and mentorship, within a multidisciplinary research environment. There will be opportunities to for the successful appointee(s) to supervise postgraduate students and to apply for their own research funding.   The person: Applicants should possess a PhD and a strong track record in innate immunity, inflammation, cell death, or host-pathogen interactions. A broad skill base, including molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, immunological assays and in vivo murine modles is highly desirable. Applicants should possess a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in immunological research, excellent general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent writing abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and within a team.

  This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

  Remuneration: This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for one year at Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range AUD$77,307 – $89,285 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range AUD$90,449 – $104,464 p.a.).
