Position Summary

The Department of Engineering Education (DEE), in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences invites candidates to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Associate. The succeful candidate will work as a postdoctoral scholar under the supervision of Dr. Matilde Sánchez-Peña, at the Diversity Assessment Research in Engineering to Catalyze the Advancement of Respect and Equity (DAREtoCARE) Lab. The projects of the DAREtoCARE lab include: (1) cultures of health in higher education and their influence in student success, (2) institutional diversity and its assessment and scrutiny at different levels, and (3) Data Science Education in engineering, their relevant teaching strategies, and the exploration of the role of data science in students' development of social responsibility.

The successful candidate will support ongoing research endeavors in the described areas through:

Development of data collection instruments.

Creation and submission of research protocols for ethics review.

Execution and/or supervision of data collection, quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and scholar writing.

Mentoring of graduate and undergraduate research assistants in the DAREtoCARE Lab.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Engineering Education or related field

Passion for equity-oriented research topics in engineering education.

Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and experience with scholarly writing (papers, proposals, etc).

Excellent writing skills, ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Attitude for continuous improvement, proactive.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Engineering Education.

Experience designing and executing research projects independently beyond dissertation work.

Experience with analysis of intuitional data and/or evaluation of classroom innovations.

Other desirable abilities include experience with the analysis of institutional data, and the evaluation of classroom innovations.
