浙江大学国家“外专千人计划”入选者Philip C. Brookes教授带领团队成员一直从事土壤微生物生态研究,现工作需要,诚招博士后研究人员1-2名。具体招聘信息如下:
一、招聘信息
Background:
A Two year Post Doctoral Position is offered, in a leading Chinese laboratory, to investigate a novel theory to explain soil organic carbon (SOC) mineralization, a fundamental process upon which all life depends. It is currently believed that the rate of mineralization of SOC is controlled by microbial activity. However, this does not explain the paradox of SOC mineralization, which is that even if 90% of the soil microorganisms are destroyed by CHCl3 fumigation, following fumigant removal, SOC mineralization continues at the same rate as in the undamaged soil. Recently, a new theory called the ‘Regulatory Gate Hypothesis’ was proposed to explain this phenomenon. It considers that mineralization of SOC is a two stage process: non-bioavailable, humified SOC is altered by abiological processes to bioavailable forms [K1]; the now bioavailable SOC is mineralized by the soil microbial biomass [K2]. If identified as a key soil process, it will transform our understanding of SOC dynamics in terms of mineralization-immobilization, C sequestration and the modeling of soil processes, such as interactions between SOC and global warming.
Qualifications:
A PhD in soil microbiology, organic matter chemistry and/or biology. Excellent abilities are required in both spoken and written English, and computer literacy.
