A Postdoctoral Scientist position is available in the area of Cancer Metabolism (lab of Dr. Dimitrios Anastasiou).
You will undertake a project that aims at elucidating molecular mechanisms and functions of metabolic reprogramming in cancer (Science 2011, 334:1278-83; Cell Research 2012, 22:443-6; Nat. Chem. Biol. 2012, 8:839–847). Available projects will involve (a) utilisation of genetic mouse models, or (b) development of protein biosensors, to study cancer metabolism in vivo.
The lab employs a multidisciplinary approach, using, among others, biochemistry, metabolomics, microscopy and systems biology methods complemented by mouse models, to understand how metabolism contributes to tumorigenesis, with an outlook on therapeutic applications.
You should have a PhD (or be in the final stages of completion) in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Physiology or related fields. A background in metabolism and experience with, depending on the project of interest, mouse models of disease or development of protein biosensors are desirable but not essential.
Salary range is from £28,867 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. MRC final salary Pension Scheme is available.
Closing date: 21st June 2013
