Grade 7: £29,541- £36,298p.a. (with a discretionary range to £39,649p.a.)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the newly established Chromatin & Genome Integrity group headed by Dr Ross Chapman. Their research focuses on elucidating the nature of molecular events propagated in chromatin upon DNA damage detection, and how these events dictate the manner in which DNA double-strand breaks are repaired.

You will work with a newly developed system to identify molecular and conformational changes to the chromatin at sites of DNA double-strand breaks in mouse and human cells. You will have experience in the fields of genome stability, chromatin biology or epigenetics research.

You will have a PhD in Biochemistry, Immunology, Cancer Biology or allied discipline. You will need strong organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to deliver results.

You will have proven research proficiency in molecular biology including mammalian tissue culture, ChIP, and general cell-biology techniques alongside with a good publication record, with at least two first or second author articles in leading refereed journals and presentations of papers at international conferences, or equivalent. Working as part of a team, you will manage the day-to-day running of a research project including assisting the work of junior researchers and technicians, and managing resources effectively.

The position is funded by the Wellcome Trust & NDM and is fixed term for up to 2 years in the first instance.
