An interdisciplinary group located in South San Francisco area working in genomic field has an opening for postdoctoral associate. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in polymer chemistry and satisfy following criteria. Position is funded for 2 years with 1 year possible extension.

      Required skills and expertize

      (1) Expertise in polymer synthesis via both conventional and living polymerization methods, as well as surface-initiated polymerization processes (ATRP, RAFT, CRP, NM-CRP, etc.) and analytical methods for polymer characterization (GPC, size exclusion, NMR).

      (2) Synthesis and purification (column chromatography) of small organic molecules, particularly ATRP and RAFT chain transfer agents and familiarity with methods of analysis (NMR, IR, mass-spectrometry, HPLC)

      (3) Deep knowledge of polymer structure-properties relationship and design of 3D polymer structures.

      (4) Ability to work as a part of integrated multidisciplinary team.

      Desired skills and expertize:

      (1) Design and synthesis of functional polymer brushes and coatings on surfaces.

      (2) Analytical methods of surface characterization (contact angle, elipsometry, AFM, etc.)
