The Tulane University Department of Pharmacology seeks to hire a postdoctoral fellow. Applications are invited for a position in the Vascular Biology laboratory of Dr. Milton Hamblin at Tulane University School of Medicine. Research will focus on sex- and gender-specific differences in atherosclerosis and vascular remodeling-related pathophysiology, signaling, and function.
Job Summary:
The applicant should have experience in performing procedures on animals, animal tissue dissection/collection, administering anesthesia and analgesics, blood collection, and some small animal surgery.
Also, the applicant should have some expertise with immunohistochemistry, histology/morphology, immunocytochemistry, Oil Red O staining, and tissue sectioning. Preference will be given to the applicant with experience in conducting standard laboratory techniques, including Western blotting, RNA extraction, RT-PCR, the use of adenovirus and RNA interference methods, and cell culture (isolation and culture of primary vascular cells – endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and macrophages).
Requirements: Ph.D. or equivalent degree with a strong background in cardiovascular biology and systems physiology.
