Coastal Zone Ecology
Aarhus University, Dept. of Bioscience opens a 4-year Post.Doc. position to work on nutrient pathways in the coastal zone. The candidate will be involved in a large research project assessing the importance of coastal zones around the Baltic Sea for transformation and retention of nutrients including organic carbon. The main focus areas in this position are Danish estuaries. The research will address the following subjects:
• Examining changing nutrient (C/N/P/Si) cocktails across the land-sea continuum
• Quantifying processes involved in transformation and retention of nutrients
• Quantifying nutrient retention across different coastal ecosystems
• Analyzing how and why these process rates change over time.
These research questions should be analyzed across coastal habitats characterized by significantly different abiotic and biotic conditions. The overall aim is to establish basin-scale estimates quantifying the importance of the different biogeochemical processes in the coastal zone. The work includes field sampling, data analysis and modeling. The candidate is expected to have a profound knowledge of marine biogeochemistry and experience with statistics and modeling.
The starting date is January 1, 2014, and working place is at the department of Bioscience unit located at Roskilde, DK-4000 Roskilde.
