The faculty mentor for this position will be Mark S. LeDoux, MD, PhD : Professor of Neurology and Anatomy & Neurobiology. The laboratory and clinical enterprise is heavily funded by NIH and industry through 2018. Memphis is a wonderful place to live (low cost of living, mild winters, Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Redbirds, Mississippi River, Beale Street, Peabody Hotel, Shelby Farms, great food, friendly people). Laboratory-based, clinical and translational research related to movement disorders (dystonia, Parkinson disease, Huntington disease). Position #1: Clinical trials research related to dystonia, Parkinson’s disease, spasticity, Huntington’s disease and restless legs syndrome. Position #2: Molecular neurobiology. Applicant must be proficient with vectors, cloning, cell culture and Western blotting, immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy.
