A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the signaling mechanism that controls cell survival and proliferation of cancer cells in the laboratory of Dr. David Liu, at the Department of Pharmacological Sciences, Washington State University College of Pharmacy, Spokane, WA. Our focus is the molecular mechanism by which ATF5 regulates cancer cell survival and proliferation as a transcription factor and as a signaling molecule. On going projects include 1) ATF5 regulation of the centrosome, the microtubule cytoskeleton and cilia formation, 2) ATF5 involvement in RNA alternative splicing, and 3) various signaling pathways regulated by ATF5 that are involved in neuroprogenitor cell differentiation, leukemia development and drug resistance. Candidates are expected to have solid backgrounds in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology, and/or Stem Cell Biology. Experience/publications in cell death regulation, signal transduction, transcription, and posttranscription gene regulation would be a plus.
