Postdoctoral Researcher
Salary £26,545 – £30,184
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position with Dr David Komander at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. The Komander lab studies protein ubiquitination, and has recently focused on mechanisms and functions of deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs). Recently, the lab joined a multi-center academic/industrial collaboration, the DUB Alliance, with the aim to target deubiquitinases involved in cancer with small molecule inhibitors (see http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-us/cancer-news/press-release/forma-therapeutics-and-cancer-research-technology-to-discover-cancer-drugs-targeting).
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with structural biology background who will help our efforts developing drugs against DUBs. You will work on understanding DUB inhibition by tool compounds structurally, using a combination of X-ray crystallography, NMR and biophysics. In addition, you will generate de novo crystal structures of DUBs and DUB complexes to gain further insights into DUB mechanism and linkage specificity. Previous experience with X-ray crystallography is advantageous.
This position is available immediately and is a fixed term position initially for one year with possible extensions up to five years. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Investigator Scientist. Starting Salary will be dependent on research experience.
