A background in electron and/or synchrotron X-ray imaging, diffraction and spectroscopy, and some experience with electrochemistry, focused ion beam (FIB) fabrication is preferred.
This position provides an exceptional opportunity for basic and applied research on electrodes for lithium ion and other advanced battery systems in collaboration with members of electron microscopy, synchrotron X-ray groups in BNL, and Northeastern Center for Chemical Energy Storage (NECCES). The successful candidate will focus on developing in situ capabilities for probing nanoscale electrochemistry and studying reaction kinetics of electrodes during battery operation. Research involves structural characterization of electrode using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and synchrotron X-ray techniques, as well as assembling and testing of in-situ electrochemical cells.
BNL Policy states that research associate appointments may be made to individuals who have received their doctorate within the past five years.
BNL is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer committed to the development of a diverse workforce.
