The Institute of Molecular Biology gGmbH (IMB) is a Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences, funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, located within the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz, Germany.
Applications are invited for an ERC-funded Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to study developmental epigenetics in Xenopus embryos. The research group of Professor Christof Niehrs is interested in epigenetic control of gene transcription, cell differentiation, reprogramming, and embryonic development. Information on the research of the Niehrs Group can be found at:

Project
The aim of the project is to characterize gene regulation by active DNA demethylation and DNA repair during Xenopus development. You will use genome wide technologies including ChIP-seq, Next Generation Sequencing, CRISPR/CAS, expression profiling and in situ hybridization, combined with overexpression and knock down technologies, to analyse components of the demethylation machinery and their target genes.
You have
• A background in molecular developmental biology, preferably Xenopus
• First author peer-reviewed publications out, in press, or submitted
• A PhD degree in biological, biochemical, biomedical sciences or related areas
• Good communication in English and good interpersonal skills
We offer
• An international and vibrant working environment
• Competitive salary
• Training opportunities
• Favourable pension scheme
Starting date: by 1 October 2014
Duration: Initially 2 years; option of further extension
To apply please send a single PDF file containing your cover letter stating research and career interests, CV, scans of your degrees (Germans: including copies of Abitur- & Diplom/Master Zeugnis), and contact details of 2 references to personnel@imb-mainz.de. Please state job reference #CNPD05.
Informal enquires should be addressed to Prof. Christof Niehrs (c.niehrs@imb-mainz.de).
Closing date: 31 March 2014
