Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center's School of Medicine in New Orleans invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The overall duties of the researcher in this position are to plan, organize, and execute independent research on kinesin motor proteins involved in cell division. Anticipated range of research techniques utilized include molecular, biochemical, spectroscopic, and in silico methods. Duties include preparation of biological samples, obtain and analyze biophysical measurements, summarize information in written form, and publish results of research in peer-reviewed journals. Applications are sought from self-motivated individuals with a Ph.D. degree in basic or health sciences or M.D. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in techniques such as gene cloning, protein expression, protein purification, small-molecule screening, spectroscopy, MATLAB programming, as well as chemical and biological laboratory principles and procedures.
