Job Purpose
The focus of the post is to address key scientific and technological challenges associated with medium to high temperature thermal energy storage (TES), covering materials, devices and integration. The post holder will form part of a team at Birmingham Centre of Thermal Energy Storage devoting to the development of novel composite TES materials with enhanced energy and power density, fabrication of TES devices using the composite materials and integration of the device into energy networks.
Person Specification
Technical knowledge - solid background and demonstrable track record through publications in at least in at least three of the following: (i) composite materials formulation and charatcerisation, (ii) scale-up of composite materials manufacturing, (iii) particle technology, (iv) thermodynamics of energy systems, (v) heat transfer and fluid mechanics, and (vi) mathematical modelling.
Personal attributes:
Enthusiastic and self-driven with sound management skills; ability to be creative in problem solving; good team player with good interpersonal and communication skills and a wiliness to interact with collaborators.
Experience in thermal energy stroage materials and processes
Experience in data acquisition based on the Labview, Matlab or a similar environment.
Experience in formulating grant proposal
