- Postdoctoral Fellowship on Mitochondrial Biology in Neurodegenerative Disease, in the laboratory of Dr. Ken Nakamura. Potential areas of investigation include normal functions and turnover of mitochondria in the brain, and mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolism in Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Requirements include a PhD and/or MD, and fluency in English. Passion for science, dedication, good problem solving and interpersonal skills are critical. Individuals with experience in neuronal culture systems, cell biology, microscopy and/or mouse models of the brain are preferred. Career development will be a priority. The laboratory is situated in Gladstone’s highly interactive, multidisciplinary research facility at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus, and draws upon the joint strengths of the Gladstone and UCSF communities.
