We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to join a 16 month NERC funded project on metatranscriptomics analysis of the environmental bacterial community (mammalian gut microbiota) in response to antibiotics at the level of non-coding RNAs. This will involve identification and bioinformatics analysis of novel functional double-stranded (ds) RNAs (antisense RNA bound to its target and phage dsRNAs relevant to antimicrobial resistance) that would shift our understanding of the development of antibiotic resistance and future approaches to treating infections. 

 

Applicants should have a PhD in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or a related subject, with a track record in RNA-seq analysis and genome assembly and relevant experience demonstrated by author publications in internationally recognised journals. The candidate will also have strong experience in all standard molecular biology techniques. The ideal candidate should be organised, highly motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
