The Division of Chemical and Biological Sciences within the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Long Qi.
This Postdoctoral Research Associate will develop porous and multidimensional heterogeneous catalysts for upgrading biomass and other feedstocks. The research will emphasize spectroscopic and kinetic study of the catalysts at the reaction conditions, especially featuring processes at the solid-liquid interface.
The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in chemistry or chemical engineering must be completed prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Demonstrated experience with extensive experience in synthesis, modification/functionalization, and characterization of micro- and meso- porous materials (especially zeolites) and supported metal catalysts. 2) Demonstrated experience with mechanistic and kinetic studies of catalytic reactions by solid catalysts with batch and/or flow reactors. 3) Demonstrated experience with spectroscopic and microscopic methods in characterization of solid materials, and chromatographic tools in analysis and quantification of reaction products.
