Senior Postdoctoral Researcher
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC)
A senior Postdoctoral Research position is available for studying molecular mechanism of cardiovascular and renal diseases in the Department of Physiology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. This position is sponsored by an NIH-funded project. Salaries are competitive and fringe benefits include health insurance coverage for family. The incumbent will join a dynamic research team which stands in the forefront of cardiovascular and renal research. This position may have opportunity for advancement and promotion based on accomplishments of first three years. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual who would like to prepare himself/herself for an independent faculty position.
This Postdoctoral position will receive training in a wide array of genetic, epigenetic, molecular, biochemical, and integrative physiological methods to investigate cardiovascular and renal functions and diseases. Current areas of research emphasis include 1) Molecular mechanism of hypertension, 2) Molecular and stem cell therapy for cardiovascular disease, and 3) Role of exosomes in cardiovascular and renal diseases. Studies are conducted in genetically engineered rodent models.
Candidates must have a PhD, MD or comparable degree with an interest in cellular/molecular cardiovascular or renal research. Prior experience and training with at least three of the followings is preferred: epigenetics, autophagy, stem cell biology, viral vectors, renal tubule epithelial cell biology, proteomics, vascular biology, or cardiovascular/renal physiology. Our laboratories are housed in the state-of-the-art Coleman Research Building with excellent core facilities in the UTHSC campus.
