The UCL Genetics Institute (UGI) is looking to appoint a talented computational postdoctoral researcher. The successful applicant will be incorporated into the broad medical genetics research program at the UGI. A key component of the research program is a US-NIH funded collaboration that includes the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, the University of Cambridge and University of Virginia on the genetic basis of type 1 diabetes. A second major research focus will be an ongoing collaboration with the UCL Institute of Neurology. This project uses transcriptome sequencing in a range of human and  in vivo samples to understand the etiology of neurodegenerative disorders, in particular amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The starting salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s skills and knowledge relevant to the post. The post is funded by the US NIH and the UK MRC and is available for 24 months in the first instance. The applicant is welcome to start as soon as available.

Applicants must hold a PhD either ideally in computer science/computational biology or alternatively mathematics/statistics with a strong interest in the other discipline. Prior knowledge of genetics is essential, and knowledge of immunology, molecular biology, and some postdoctoral experience is desirable.
