       Research Associate in Neuroscience

       The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,375 – £39,132 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

       We are seeking a highly motivated, very enthusiastic postdoctoral Research Associate to join our group to investigate the function of pre-synaptic HCN channels in the entorhinal cortex (see Huang et al. (2011) Nat. Neurosci., 14, 478-86). The project with involve the use of two-photon imaging in acute brain slices together with electrophysiology, anatomical methods and in vivo stereotaxic injections. This post is funded by an ERC Starter Independent Grant for two and half years in the first instance.

       The successful candidate must have (or expect to have) a Ph.D. in a relevant subject area. The candidate must also have significant experience in making whole-cell patch-clamp recordings from neurons in brain slices. Experience in two photon imaging, the use of programmes such as MATLAB and a good understanding of synaptic physiology and biophysics and pharmacology of voltage-gated ion channels would be advantageous.
