The Haim laboratory in the Department of Microbiology at The University of Iowa seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist. The multidisciplinary program in the lab combines molecular biology, structural biology, biophysical and computational approaches and applies cutting-edge technologies to characterize the structure and function of the HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins. A major part of this program is focused on better understanding the complex interplay between HIV and the host adaptive immune response. These insights are used to develop new approaches for HIV vaccine design.
This position is available for a scientist with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry or biophysics. Prior experience in structural biology is an advantage.
The postdoctoral scientist will design, conduct and analyze experiments and experimental data, develop new ideas that promote current research and prepare scientific manuscripts. As a member of a highly collaborative and energetic team, s/he will present research results at laboratory meetings, institutional seminars and national conferences. Education Requirement:
PhD in immunology, virology, biochemistry, biophysics or related field. Required Qualifications:
Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or biophysics and an excellent publication record.
The candidate needs to be highly motivated with proficiency in academic writing and communication skills and possess the ability to work closely with other scientists in collaborating laboratories.
