The Mangolini Lab ( http://www.engr.ucr.edu/mangolini/ ), within the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Materials Science and Engineering Program at University of California, Riverside, is seeking a postdoctoral scholar in the general area of synthesis, processing and characterization of nanomaterials.
Research topics/directions include:
• Synthesis of earth-abundant nanoparticles,
• Surface modification of quantum dots,
• Development of devices based on the nanomaterials produced in the Mangolini Lab.
Priority will be given to candidates with significant experience in either one of these two areas: (a) measurement of thermal transport properties in nanomaterials and (b) development of electrochemical energy storage devices.
Research efforts will be primarily conducted at the University of California, Riverside, within the Winston Chung Energy Center or in collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, CA. Candidates must have a PhD in disciplines of mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering, physics, chemistry or materials science. Preference will be given to highly creative and motivated candidates with an interdisciplinary background and solid experimental/theoretical skills. Collaboration with faculty and graduate students will be expected on a regular basis.
