Job description
Schlumberger is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work in a laboratory role exploring applications of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) methods to multiphase metering of pipe flows involving complex mixtures of water, oil, and gas at high velocities. The researcher is expected to develop, implement, and test nonstandard and novel measurement protocols, and propose strategies for further research using our extensive facilities for multiphase flow. Oilfield-background training is provided as well as the opportunity to have approximately fifteen days per year for personal technical training and development.

Responsibilities
•Undertake scientific research in metering multiphase pipe flows by designing MRI measurement protocols, developing apparatus, and conducting experimental testing under general supervision.
•Target new technologies for oilfield applications.
•Make independent decisions on technical issues and recommend scientific solutions to specific problems.
•Maintain your area of scientific expertise, continually expand your technical knowledge, and keep up to date on developments within your domain.
•Publish and present scientific papers, apply for patents, and attend conferences.

Qualifications
•PhD degree in MRI applications to fluid flow.
•Experience in application of MRI to bulk turbulent, multiphase, fluid flows.
•Experience with NMR hardware and associated software, including development of sparse data acquisition methods and associated data processing.
•Experience in high Reynolds number engineering fluid mechanics, both experimentation & modelling.
•Experience in the use and development of nonstandard NMR techniques and experimental hardware. Track record of MRI experimentation and technique development.
