A postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Developmental and Regenerative Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, to study the development of the cardiovascular lineage using the human pluripotent stem cell system.
Research: Our research focuses on elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying lineage specification of the different cell types in the human heart using the pluripotent stem cell model system. In parallel we are investigating congenital heart defects in human induced pluripotent stem cells. Institute: Mount Sinai is located on the Upper East side of Manhattan in New York City, just one block from Central Park. The Icahn school of Medicine is home to an array of leading research institutes, centers and facilities, offering the interested candidate an interactive, highly collaborative and innovative scientific environment that fosters strong interactions between basic and translational research.
Qualifications: A strong background in developmental, stem cell and/or cardiac biology is required. Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, flow cytometry and/or RNA-seq/ChIP-seq are highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, exceptional work ethic and the ability to function within a highly interactive and interdisciplinary research community are essential. This position is for a highly motivated PhD graduate (graduated 2012 or later) who aims to develop an independent research carrier.
