The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the areas of nano engineering specifically dealing with carbon based nanocomposites for sensor applications.
Job Description:
A position is available in the Micro Engineering Dynamics Automation Lab (MEDAL) at the University of Calgary for a postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary team developing and testing novel sensors based on carbon based (such as CNTs, graphenes, etc.) nanocomposites. Specifically, the researcher will be responsible for development of novel sensors for pipeline monitoring applications. The work will also involve with micro/nano engineering aspects and possibly collaborating with a company. The potential candidates should be prepared to relocate, if necessary, and begin work with us preferably before the end of 2013.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in engineering or science field with focus in nanocomposites, mechanical engineering, sensors, CNT/graphenes, polymers, and numerical modeling. Experience with nanocomposite based sensors and characterizations such as AFM, EIS, etc. is advantageous. The successful candidates will have a proven record of success and be able to conduct research independently as well as part of a team. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
Applicants must be outside of University of Calgary. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
