The Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC) operates at the Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge. There are 14 units at CLINTEC. The activities include clinical research, education and development.
We work with undergraduates, graduate students, exchange students in ERASMUS program, postdoctoral researchers, educators and scientists at Karolinska Institutet and organizations with a common vision of excellence in research, education and development.
Division
At the Division of Renal Medicine experimental and patient-oriented clinical research is conducted based on clinically relevant problems. The work is conducted in close collaboration with the Renal Clinic at Karolinska Huddinge, Baxter Novum, CMM Solna and with several national and international institutions.
The most active research areas involve metabolic changes, malnutrition and inflammation in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis treatment. Several other projects are also running including renal biopsy studies, endothelial dysfunction, pharmacokinetics, uremic toxicity, genetics and epigenetics, hypogonadism, bone disease and vascular calcification, inflammatory kidney diseases and epidemiology.
