A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately to work at the Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of Rochester.
Research opportunities are available to study the molecular mechanisms of cardiac potassium channel membrane trafficking regulation in cardiomyocytes and in heart failure mouse models. In particular, the project will investigate calcium dependent PKC isoforms as a novel signaling pathway underlying arrhythmogenesis in congestive heart failure.
The research will employ confocal imaging, biochemistry, molecular biology, in vitro and in vivo adenovirus infection of channel proteins and cellular electrophysiology techniques.
Candidates must have extensive experience with patch clamp electrophysiology. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in cardiovascular research and cardiomyocyte isolation. Experience in confocal imaging, biochemistry and molecular biology are desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
