A postdoctoral position is available in our research group at Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS), Agency of Science and Technology Research (A*STAR).The focus of our team is an in-depth genomic and epigenomic analysis of highly prevalent metabolic and developmental diseases (eg. diabetes and obesity) for biomarker discovery. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, with an expertise in functional genomics and next-generation sequencing data analysis. The successful candidate will be involved in analyzing genomic data from clinical subjects and will also be a part of collaborations with biological discovery groups, clinicians, pharmaceuticals and nutritional agencies.

Job Responsibilities:

 Data mining and analysis of genome and epigenome based clinical studies.
 Use and development of probabilistic models and statistical methods to answer scientific questions and hypothesis.
 Preparation of scientific publications, data reports and presentations.

Requirements

a) Minimum Qualifications:

 Ph.D. degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a closely related field

 Proven productivity by previous publications in peer-reviewed journals is essential
 Experience with working on multiple genomics platforms (e.g. microarrays, next generation sequencing)

b) Minimum Experience:

 Strong analytical skills and applied biostatistics experience.
 Expertise in programming skills (Python/C/C++/ R/Perl) and common biostatistical tools such as SAS and Matlab.

c) Others :

 Highly self-motivated with excellent communication and writing skills in English language.
 Strong desire to learn in a dynamic multi-disciplinary research environment.
