The Center for Biosustainability (CfB) is a research unit within the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) that focuses on developing new knowledge and technologies to help the transformation from the existing oil-based chemicals industry to a more sustainable bio-based society, where chemicals are produced biologically.
The Microbial Electrosynthesis Group at the Center for Biosustainability has now an open position and is seeking a motivated and experienced postdoctoral research associate. The CfB is part of a larger EU consortium comprised of leading universities and companies that are working together to develop biosustainable technologies.
Job description
The postdoctoral research associate will be working in a team focusing on the further development of microbial electrosynthesis, a promising novel approach by which microbes convert electrical current into chemical commodities.
The postdoctoral research associate will focus on:
• The development of graphene-based biocompatible cathode materials
• The development of electrode-coating techniques with biological materials
Qualifications
The candidate should:
• Have a material science background
• Have obtained a PhD in a relevant field
• Have strong work ethics
• Be a team player
Preferably have experience with graphene materials and electrochemistry. Preferable technical skills are SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD and AFM. The Microbial Electrosynthesis Group is an international team and applicants must be proficient in both oral and written English.
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
