College of Science and Engineering
Institute of Cell Biology
Postdoctoral Research Associate in microRNA Biology
Grade/Salary Scale: UE07 (£30,728 – £36,661)
Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Gracjan Michlewski at The Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology, The University of Edinburgh. The major goal of our laboratory is to understand the mechanisms that control microRNA levels in mammalian cells (Michlewski G et al., Mol Cell 2008, Michlewski G & Caceres JF, NSMB 2010, Choudhury NR et al., Genes Dev 2013).
The successful candidate will use a wide spectrum of molecular biology, biochemistry and high-throughput screening techniques in order to dissect the fine details of microRNA biogenesis pathways in cancer cells. The position, funded by the Medial Research Council is available until December 2015 and extended beyond, depending on the available funding and performance.
Essential qualifications include a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or other relevant field, proven track record, with at least one first-author publication in respected peer-reviewed journal, expertise in mammalian cell culture and various aspects of RNA biology.
