Postdoctoral Scholar Position – mRNA processing & gene expression in stem cells
Dr. Yongsheng Shi in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, UC Irvine School of Medicine is seeking applicants for post-doctoral position to study mammalian mRNA alternative polyadenylation and its regulation in stem cells. The lab uses biochemical and proteomic approaches to analyze the molecular mechanisms of mRNA 3’ processing (Shi et al., (2009) Molecular Cell 33:365-76). They have also developed genomic tools, including high-throughput sequencing-based methods, for studying alternative polyadenylation in stem cell differentiation and cancer development (Shepard et al., (2011) RNA; Yao et al, (2012) PNAS).
Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Please send a cover letter, C.V., and names of at least 3 references to Dr. Yongsheng Shi, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine.
