丹麦奥胡斯实验电子结构研究博士后职位

时间:2018-08-27来源:未知 作者:shenqian

The Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, invites applications for a two-year postdoc position in the area of electronic structure research by angle-resolved photoemission and scanning probe microscopy. There is funding for 2 years of employment. In case further external funding is procured within the academic area the candidate is estimated obviously qualified for, an extension can be possible for up to a total maximum of 4 years employment as a post doc.

The position is available from 1.11.2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.

You are expected to contribute to the experimental study of novel (Dirac) materials by techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopy and synchrotron radiation-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The materials in question will partly consist of quasi two-dimensional materials grown in situ, opening the possibility to access classes of materials that are too sensitive to be isolated by mechanical exfoliation. Experiments will be carried out mainly at the local synchrotron radiation source ASTRID2 but participation in external beamtimes for time-resolved photoemission and nano-scale photoemission is also planned. You are expected to take a leading role in these activities, working with PhD and master students on several projects.
Applicants should hold a PhD in physics or chemistry or materials science.

Several additional qualifications are required or highly desirable for this project:

  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum, scanning tunneling microscopy and synchrotron-radiation based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy
  • Experience in in situ growth, using techniques such as molecular beam epitaxy
  • Previous experience with supervision of PhD students will be an advantage.

The postdoc position will be part of the VILLUM Centre of Excellence for Dirac Materials (www.villumcdm.org). This centre ties together activities in theoretical condensed matter physics, materials chemistry, and experimental characterization of materials. The Department of Physics and Astronomy has several unique experimental facilities relevant for this position, especially the third generation synchrotron radiation source ASTRID2.

The place of work is Ny Munkegade 120, 8000 Aarhus C, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Guidelines for applicants can be found here.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their personal background. Research activities will be evaluated in relation to actual research time. Thus, we encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities, in order to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity.

Aarhus University offers Relocation service to International researchers. You can read more about it here.

Deadline

All applications must be made online and received by: 15.10.2018
