Applications are invited for the above full-time post. The person appointed will join the Division of Primary Care in the new School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham, based in either The Medical School at QMC or the Tower Building, University Park.
A highly motivated Research Fellow at post-doctoral level in health services research is required to join a large and exciting study funded by the NIHR-School for Primary Care Research. This research post will focus on supporting a pragmatic randomised trial that will compare the effectiveness of low dose colchicine and naproxen for reducing pain in adults with gout. The post holder will work closely with a multidisciplinary team from University of Nottingham, Keele University, University of Southampton and University of Oxford that has been funded to carry out a randomised controlled trial, economic analysis and qualitative analysis of the service under the leadership of Dr Edward Roddy and Professor Anthony Avery.
Candidates must have PhD or equivalent (or be close to completion) in a relevant field such as health-related research, economics or statistics and have either experience of, or evidence of skills necessary for successfully recruiting participants to studies. Familiarity with MS Office and statistical analysis packages (eg SPSS or STATA) is essential along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks, and a proactive approach.
This post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract to 28th February 2015. This post is open to job share. Hours of work are 36.25 per week.
