Position for Postdoctoral Associate to work in Dr. Van den Veyver's Lab located in the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute.
This position will participate in a project to discover and study the molecular pathogenesis of Aicardi Syndrome. Aicardi syndrome is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, affecting primarily females who have a variety of severe neurodevelopmental problems. The pathogenesis has remained elusive despite several standard approaches, including high-throughput sequencing.
We are recruiting enthusiastic creatively thinking individuals who are motivated to develop and carry out new approaches towards discovery of the causes of this condition. The impact of this discovery is likely to be high, as it may shed light on new pathways and molecules involved in neurodevelopment and understanding for neurodevelopmental disease, beyond Aicardi syndrome.
Candidate should be able to work independently and take a leading role on the assigned project, under supervision and guidance of the P.I. and should be able to participate in supervising of less experience lab members.
Candidates should be recent doctoral graduates (within 2-3 years) and have a very thorough background in human genetics, neuroscience and can handle high-throughput genome sequencing data, or work with a very high level of understanding with somebody who handles the data.
