Description
A postdoctoral fellowship is available at the University of Houston (UH) starting immediately. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project involving researchers in the UH BME and Physics Departments to develop and evaluate novel methods for x-ray tomography and image quality assessment. Topics of interest include digital breast tomosynthesis, spectral x-ray detection, phase contrast imaging and image reconstruction methods. Image quality assessment methods will include conducting human observer studies (ROC, LROC) and using eye tracking experiments to develop a new visual search mathematical model observer.
Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field are invited to apply. Strong analytical, mathematical and computer programming skills (C/C++ and Linux shell scripting) are essential, as are good communication skills. Candidates with experience in radiological/nuclear medical imaging areas, tomographic image reconstruction, simulation methods, Monte Carlo methods (GEANT, PENELOPE) and/or image analysis are desirable. The opportunity to test new results with laboratory/clinical data is available. Candidates will benefit from strong collaboration opportunities with our clinical and industrial partners. Experience with IDL/Matlab and parallel computing is desirable.
