英国伦敦大学国王学院老年精神医学系项目协调博士后招收

时间:2013-09-10来源:博士人才网 作者:91boshi

An estimated 2 million people in the UK repeatedly see things that are not actually there – termed visual hallucinations. The hallucinations are associated with many clinical conditions of which eye disease, Parkinson’s disease and ‘the dementias’ (including Alzheimer’s disease) are the most important in terms of the number of patients affected. We have been awarded an NIHR funded programme grant “Towards an evidence-based clinical management of visual hallucinations: prevalence, prognosis, impact and pathophysiology” which sets out to fill the gaps in our understanding of the nature and scale of this problem. The programme consists of 4 integrated workstreams covering different aspects of visual hallucinations and their impact on patients and NHS services. Applications are invited for a post doctoral research worker /programme coordinator who will be responsible for co-ordinating the different elements of this programme across all the participating centres. The post holder will have previous research experience in the types of condition being studied or the methodologies used in programme. You will also be responsible for overseeing research governance across the centres (London, Liverpool, Cambridge and Newcastle), lead the standardisation and implementation of the research protocol across centres and lead on the preparation of research outputs.

These roles will involve close working with PIs, programme teams, clinical trials units and research support staff and the NIHR. The post-holder will be based primarily in the Department of Old Age Psychiatry, but will be expected to travel to the participating centres which may require overnight stays. The Department of Old Age Psychiatry carries out biological and clinical research that will have an important impact upon our understanding of dementia and other mental illnesses that affect older people and lead to the development of better treatments. We have a strong commitment to research which aims to understand the biology of Alzheimer's disease and optimise treatment strategies.

The department undertakes undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within King's College London and offers a master's degree in MSc Advanced Care in Dementia. This is a fixed-term appointment to the 31st May 2017.

Starting salary of £33,654pa (inclusive of £2,323 pa London Allowance).
