Summary: This Postdoctoral Associate position for studying melon quality in collaboration with University of California, Davis.
The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinating phenotyping activities
• Conducting physiochemical and sensory analysis
• Developing high throughput phenotyping tools to assist breeding for quality
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree in Plant Biochemistry, Plant Physiology, Food Chemistry, or related fields with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to speak and write English, fluency in Spanish and French is a plus.
• Heavy lifting required (up to 50 lbs.)
• Previous seed industry experience is a plus.
Skills required:
• Ability to work in the office, laboratory, fields, greenhouse; along with variable climate conditions (hot, cold, etc.)
• Intermediate user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Hold a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Knowledge of and experience with plant physiology and plant biochemistry methods and tools (specifically Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) and good understanding of plant genetics.
• Personal initiative, innovative thinking, ability to work in a team environment, and experience in project management.
• Well-versed in the use of computers for analyzing field, greenhouse and laboratory research trial data and business communications.
